Robot is a modern automatically operated machine which replaces human efforts though may not be as human beings in physical appearance or function like human beings. Robot is an intelligent, physically embodied machine. A robot has ability to perform tasks autonomously to some degree and can also sense and manipulate its environment. The designing, construction and operation of robots are being carried out by an engineering discipline called ROBOTICS.

The definition of robot has been a topic of argument since beginning but the term robot was coined out from Czech word ‘robota’ which means ‘forced labour or serf’. The term appeared in 1921, in Karel Capek’s play R.U.R. Then, robots looked like human more in spirit than appearance and we’re made not from metal but chemical batters and they were heartlessly exploited by factory owners till they revolted and destroyed humanity.
In another narration, the word ROBOTICS was said to first appeared in Isaac Asimov’s science -fiction story titled ‘Runaround’ in 1942. This robot story set new standard about the likely complexity in the development of intelligent robots plus the technical and social problems attached to it. Asimovs in his Runaround, highlighted Three laws of Robotics which include;
• A robot may not injure a human being, or through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
• A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict the first law.
• A robot must protect it’s own existence as long as such protection doesn’t conflict with the first or second law.

Robots are created to make our lives safer and easier buy we still don’t trust them because of confusing mix of awe, admiration and fears they have inspired. However, the future of robots should be fun and put human beings in peace without confusion, the field of robotics is booming and the manufacturers or engineers are making caution to avoid trepidation of any kind.

IMPORTANCE

Robots are capable of a lot of task humans cannot perform either due to danger or a certain level of mundane repetition. Different institution, companies and home have implemented robotics for further efficiency . The military institutions have utilized robots for deadly and severe conditions. The Pioneer robot was engaged in the known disaster of Chernobyl to access the stability and radiation levels which would have killed someone. Some have also been used to research for sulfur and gas levels on volcanoes.
Furthermore, health sector is not left out, there are copious robotic technology developed to give physicians and surgeons innovative ideas and assistance just like Surgical Assistant Robots such as ‘Da Vinci’, which helps surgeons to perform sterile surgeries giving instructions outside the walls of operating rooms. This robotics interference has reduced operative complications during and after the surgery, it also saves time. Robot system in established in clinics around the world. So, engineers are working hard to successfully invent micro and Nano robots. Because they are capable of doing things which need precise and accurate performance as a human cannot do that kind of things. For drug delivery system, these robots can locally concentrate therapeutic payload around pathological sites so that they can reduce the dose of administrative drugs and side effects caused by them.

In addition, Robots, a general-purpose technology also play a major role in education. Robots can act as proxy for students who are absent as a result of one issue or the other like being sick or so. The robot would act just like the absentee in the classroom though it is controlled by the person himself. A telepresence robot also act as proxy for teachers which make them teach a class without physical presence. Also, Humanoid, a robot like human, autistic students find it easy to interact with robots rather normal human being since they see them so irritating and confusing while communicating with them.

The Future of Robots
There are different sophisticated machines and gadgets around us and they keep increasing day in day out though not self sufficient but still useful. However, robots can only be useful when it becomes self sufficient. In few years to come, Robots with prevailing innovative ideas that brings revolution to all sectors with ease and speedy output, will be alternative choice and stands in for humans replacing their jobs
Mustafa Suleyman, the head of Applied AI at Google DeepMind, recently brushed aside the thought of rogue robots determined to end the human race while speaking at a machine learning event in London. He went on to stress that fear of AI needlessly directs attention away from its ability to solve some of the world’s biggest problems, such as global warming and food security.
